Jessica Andrade
Jessica Lucia Andrade is a British Asian actress of Goan decent, specialising in physical theatre and circus skills. Jessica graduated from East 15, gaining a Cert He in Theatre Arts in 2007 and then a Physical Theatre BA in 2010. She has gone on to choreograph and perform at Leicester Curve, Birmingham Drum, Camden Roundhouse, as well as large scale outdoor festivals in London, Brighton and Watford. She perform’s regularly with Tangled Feet theatre company. Jessica continued her circus training after East 15 with Upswing Aerial in their Step Up programme, and is now their education associate teaching for them in their silks, hoop and conditioning classes. She performs and choreographs Bollywood dance pieces, most recently with Secret Theatre in their production Romeo and Juliet. Having devised work for others, she is now taking her choreographic and performance experience to create a physical theatre/circus show on the theme of identity as a British Asian woman.
Sumerah Srivastav & Ajay Srivastav
Sumerah is a writer and librettist with a background in feature film production (Company Pictures, Alliance Atlantis, Irish Screen and Producer Allan Niblo) and commercial radio (Club Asia AM). She has been a member of the Royal Court’s Critical Mass and invited Studio writers’ programmes, Stratford East’s Musical Theatre Initiative, World Theatre Lab and the Orange Tree Writers Collective.
Her plays include Space Invaders, Downfall, The Fairy King and Border Lines and have been performed at Soho, Tristan Bates, Redbridge Drama Centre, Contact, and the Orange Tree.
Sumerah is currently an Associate Artist at Rifco Arts where she is developing a musical. She is also under commission to the Redbridge Drama Centre for a new play Veiled & Vinegar and to the BBC to write for EastEnders.

Ajay is a musician, lyricist and composer. As a session musician he has worked with a range of artists including Jamiroquia, Gregory Isaacs and Zakir Hussain. His score credits include short films/documentaries (Soulmates 2011; Cuts 2010; Flying Sikhs 2009; Wake Up Bollywood 2008), Bollywood films (Karzz 2008; Golmaal Returns 2008; Bhool Bhulaiya 2007) and Theatre (Cymbeline 2013; Power of Dance 2011; The Perfect Ganesh 2010).
His work draws inspiration from his love of both Western and Eastern music styles - from Blues and Jazz to Classical Indian and Folk. Bilingual since childhood, he writes lyrics in both English and Hindi. Switching easily between languages and cultures provides his music with a unique international appeal.
Ajay has also enjoyed successs as a solo artist with his album Kasam Se and is the founding member and frontman of Botown - an 8 piece touring band that re-imagines Bollywood music from the musical perspective of a late 60’s Soul band. More info can be found at www.ajayhq.com and www.botown.co.uk
Yasmin Whittaker-Khan
Yasmin is a youth Worker, Writer, Presenter & Social Activist. Talks and Interviews include BBC radio 4, Front row, television, Beyond These Walls – Ritla Shah, BBC Frontrow - Mark Lawson, Theatre Voice- Dominic Cavendish, ICA, Kings College, The Theatre Museum and the Archway literature festival, Notre Dame University–Indiana.
Produced Scripts/Publications - Reshaam (Silk), Love Stomp, Pleasure and Pain, Lucy, Telephone Love, In No Sense, Bells (has had critical acclaim-translated/performed around the world). Twelve, Porcelain Dolls, Index On Censorship, English Pen, Women’s Own, Mail On Sunday. BBC Radio Asian soap, Silver Street and written /produced short films Lemon Juke Box & Le Grand Jour, Jihad Of The Mind and has Co-presented, researched and scripted a series for Anglia TV.
Residencies at Theatre Royal Stratford East, Islamabad/ Lahore National College Of Arts, Notre Dame University In Indiana USA and the Arvon Foundation.
YW-K has helped launch the first ever national playwriting course in Pakistan at the National College of Arts in Islamabad and Lahore.
Currently under commission for a feature film set in London, Associate with Rifco Theatre Company, script development with Kali Theatre Company. She is also writing an Autobiographical fiction and a fantasy children’s book set in London.
